Cisterns: Community Bulk Orders

Interested in purchasing a cistern or two to harvest the rain on your property?  SPAWN has found a way to lower the cost significantly by purchasing in bulk. See frequently asked questions below to find out more.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the next Community Bulk Order being placed?

We do not currently have an order planned, as we have recently completed a large one. Please let us know if you would like to participate and when we have enough interest, we will put together another order. Contact carrie@tirn.net.

How does the Community Bulk Order work?

Community members place orders for cisterns or rainwater tanks of their desired size(s) and SPAWN coordinates a bulk purchase for delivery to a single accessible location on a particular day. By grouping the purchase together, SPAWN is able to offer community members a discounted price on tanks, as well as on shipping costs, which are shared among all those participating and therefore greatly reduced. Tanks become available for pick-up by participants at the appointed location on the day of delivery. Having a common timeframe and pick-up location provides participants with an opportunity to meet each other and be inspired by the growing community of rainwater harvesters in Marin County.

The delivery usually takes one to three weeks from when we place the order. We alert participants as soon as we have solidified the pick-up location and day.

What styles of tanks have been available through the Community Bulk Order?

Please see flyer for details. Prices are subject to change.

How do I place an order?

Orders can be placed online or by check. Full payment is required at the time of ordering. Delivery costs will be divided among participants. Delivery will be calculated as followed: Total delivery fee divided by the total gallons of all tanks delivered = $/gallon delivery. This $/gallon will then be multiplied by the gallons of storage capacity you order to assess your portion of the delivery costs. Payment of delivery costs is due in full at time of pick-up via check or cash only.
When and where do I pick up my tank(s)?

The delivery typically takes one to three weeks from when we place the order and the location varies with each community bulk order, but is always in an easily accessible location.

What if I don't have a truck and/or need help getting my tank(s) home?

We ask the community for help in transporting tanks to individual sites. However, it will be your responsibility to coordinate with friends, family or local businesses to move your tank(s) from the pick-up location to your site. A 2,500-gallon tank can be safely transported by a full-size pick-up truck.
